Find out why it's vomiting in the first place.

That is probably impossible but you may be able to eliminate the causes of his vomiting. Do not feed him from the table. Do not let him eat garbage. Do not let him clean out the catbox. Yuck!

Sometimes dogs eat grass and vomit. I am not sure how you could prevent him from eating grass unless you were with him every moment he was outside.

Do you have your dog on a proper diet? If not, this may be a factor. Some breeds, such as the Poodle, have finnickey tummys. The diet I would recommend is Nutro Ultra with a dollop of yogurt with a 3.25% fat content stirred into it's dry food. Do not feed table scraps, ever.

If its yellow its because its hungry and hasnt eaten anything for a while. If its regular vomit, try subbtly changing his diet, its probably something it ate.

Try feeding it lighter foods, if you give it human type foods, that probably is what is causing it.

If not, try getting a lighter brand of dog food, even puppy food
