get it off of the cheap filler foods from the grocery or the vet. canidae, solid gold, canidae, california natural, artimis, and dick van pattens brands are great Innova evo is fantastic.
These are made from all natural ingrediants that are good for your dog and not junk food. A gas problem in a dog is usually from his system is not digesting the food properly. Cheap filler junk food will cause gas as most have a corn or grain product in them and what does grain do?? Cause gas.
A bit of plain yogurt in the food will help in the dogs digestion and help eliminate the gas to a tolerable thing.

someone mentioned olroy from walmart, This stuff is plain JUNK>>>>>>>>>>> Never but never feed this dog food your dog will continue to have gas and other problems.
kibbles and bits??? You midas well feed your dog a diet of twinkies, it is PURE JUNK>..........

First, you are correct that Boston's are gassy by nature so there isn't a whole lot you can do about that. It's a matter of genetics. Secondly, if you didn't switch his food gradually, you will see an increase in gas and softer stool due to his body trying to adjust to the new food. Lastly, you can still get a good food for around $30 per month if you feed your dog the correct amount. Here's an example: Taste of the Wild is $40 for a 30 pound bag. I feed my 50 pound American Staffordshire Terrier 2 cups per day and it lasts about 6 weeks. $40/6 weeks = $6.66 per week x 4 weeks = $26.67 per month (which fits under your budget). Your dog probably weighs half of mine so a 30 pound bag should last you double the time meaning a 30 pound bag of Taste of the Wild should last you about 3 months. If it does last you 3 months then you actually would be spending about $13 per month on a premium dog food.

I know some of the cheaper brands promote gas- Purina, Pedigree, Alpo, etc. Try a high-quality brand, and stick with chicken- beef or lamb is likely to make it worse.

Brands to try: Artemis, Merrick, Wellness, Wysong, Verus, Chicken Soup. Make sure you're feeding a senior formula if they're over 8 or 9 years old.

Also, pick one brand and stick to it for several months- it takes a while for their systems to adjust to new foods, and the more you change food the gassier they'll become.

I personally recommend Nutro Ultra or at least some of Nutro's made specifically for older dogs. If you don't already, try elevating the dog's food dish 8 to 10 " off the floor or what ever height is comfortable for your dog since I don't know what breed you have. When dogs have to eat @ floor level they tend to gulp air when feeding & that's where most of your gas comes from.

Gas is a sign of maldigestion. Try adding a sponnful of plain,sugar/fruit free yogurt to the food each day. make sure the yogurt has the live probiotics.

My old dog has the same problem. I use Hill's ID on him (Intestinal Diet). You have to buy it from the vet but it works for him. No more poor bloated belly for my old guy!

Kibbles and Bits work for our dog. Ask a vet, maybe there is something you can get to treat your dogs gas.
