After downloading several programs from the internet, I now have all of their setup programs left behind on my desktop. Many of the files from these setup programs are now scattered on my hard drive.

Now this is how you do it. You make a blank folder. Then you put ALL the setup programs there, and/or burn the folder or setups to a CD. Reason is if you ever have to delete the program or if you do a reformat/recovery, you will not have to waste time downloading the setup programs. Better to burn on a RW disc in case another better updated setup comes along. Example, I have the set up for my Logictech cam, but then another update came along. Well I deleted the old update and burned the newer update to my RW cd.

If you mean you have their setup files on your desktop, you can move them all to a common location. I keep all installation files in C:/Program Files so they're easy to find.
If you no longer want the programs, uninstall them using the Control Panel and delete the install files.

ccleaner.com or check with the manufactuer site for uninstalling instructions, dont forget to scan the drives for the files after you dump them. Start menu search and then files/ folders type the programs name and let wizard do the rest. Once completed start deleting them as necessary. Good Luck

I found a folder called SWSETUP containing many of them; also run your Search-for-files (if your folders are set up not to hide "hidden" files) for *setup*.exe and *setup*.msi?
