the elliptical is better in the long run because it's low impact. Running, on the treadmill, is high impact and is therefore harder on your joints, though you may burn more calories running.

In the long run, it's not about the amount of calories you burn, it's the fact you're elevating your metabilism. So, the outcomes of running and the eliptical are the same (speeding up metabolism), but, at the end of the day, the elliptical is easier on your body.

I love the elliptical. I think it is much better than the treadmill. It does burn more calories unless you're running on the treadmill it also works different parts of your lower body and has different programs to choose from.

Either, which one you put more effort into.
I wouldn't use either though. They're expensive and you can get same results doing many other things.
Do things that makes you burn.
Also, where is it that you wish to burn more fat at is in play here, not just burning calories alone. If you have no problems of the fat, maybe just walking is good enough. Walking is great for the heart.

I love the elliptical machine!
I hate the treadmill.
I burn 700 calories an hour on the elliptical, and it makes my rear absolutely beautiful!!
