Approximately 4 hours!
I use a car to drive to work, (sometimes as early as 3 A.M.)
Once I start work I collect all the commuters and try to get them to their destination on time.
If I am on lates I take the commuters home again.
I never have to worry about getting a seat either, or being squashed in with the unsavoury smells of people who have been hard at work all day.

If you look at the front of the train as it rolls into your station, you may see me at the controls!

Don't forget to smile as I'm doing my best to get you home!

The last time I used a train was over 20 years ago, however last year there was a special offer on South West Trains so I thought I would give it a try. After numerous attempts to book a seat for a day out I gave up.The booking office sounded like it was in some far off country and did not have a clue on the geography of the UK!

I last used a train on Friday 1st dec, this day sticks in my head because when I walked through the shop floor first thing, the lads were playing Christmas songs and I said it was too early for all that! and then when I walked through the village to the town centre, they were turning the lights on whilst I struggled past the crowd with my heavy bag to get to the train. I went on the underground in between as well, which was a nightmare! Have no idea why that day sticks in my head, it just does! X

The last, and only time, I've ever used a train was in Spring 1997. So almost 10 years ago. I took the train from Washington D.C. to Boston, MA to visit a friend over spring break.

Last Saturday. I will use one again on Friday.
All these people who hardly ever go on a train.... I hope most or all are Yanks. Who are these people who have NEVER been on a train? Astonishing. I think the only form of transport I have never been on is a balloon - but I hope to one day!

I have NEVER used the train for anything. The simple reason being, the nearest station to where I live is litterly 5 minutes walk from where I work, or an hour's bus ride from my home.

End of November, return from Inverness to Middlesbourgh, all but one leg went to schedule, trains were clean and always had a seat even when not booked in advanced.
