My friends Holly and Jim met each other a few years ago. They fell in love, something that happens a lot after a few dates. They continued dating and waited nicely with having sex until they were married.

Every Sunday they go to church and they worship their God. For some reason God didn't give them any children. But they traveled to an Ethiopian orphanage to adopt two orphans.

Jim works as a doctor in a well-respected hospital, Holly is a volunteer for Unicef. Their kids are some of the happiest kids I've ever seen.

Weirdly enough, on this forum I always read that according to some old book they will end up in hell. Anybody can tell me why? Is it really simply because both Holly and Jim are male? Sounds so silly to me...

Honestly if people like that are going to be in hell then I will be happy to join them there. I'm not Christian, I don't understand their thinking either.

And it is silly. First of all, if they're both male I'd say there wasn't a "God" reason they didn't have children, it was a human reproduction reality. This is a ridiculous notion and even sillier that you'd lead us to think they were a heterosexual couple with reproductive difficulties.
Hell is a concept arrived at by men, not by a being capable of willing the universe into existence, and it's always been a control device for the powerful or a tool for bringing humanity out of chaos and anarchy. It's similar to telling children that if they're good Santa will bring them lots of presents and if bad, not.
Maybe they should find a new god.

Whether Holly & Jim are male and male or female & female, they have to answer to God, but as long as they are loving those 2 kids to their best ability, and showing them an open world that consist of love and war, hate and pride, and not limiting them to one life, I really want to see them be happy. I will encourage them to continue to be happy, and let them worry about making peace with their maker. Mean while I hope they have a black hair dresser for those kids. It's a mess when you see white people not make an attempt to make sure the kids hair is taking care of

That ain't the only silly thing. How 'bout the idea that the pious, moral Buddhist who feeds and clothes the poor, visits the sick and dying, and prays several times a day will end up in hell, right along with Holly and Jim.

That's the troubling thing about most of these Christians; how quick they are to say that others are going to suffer for eternity in hell.

They also say that all sin is equal in the eye's of God. Does this mean that the deeply religious prayerful Jew and the unrepentant child-killer are "guilty" of equal sins; that they both suffer the same eternity in hell? And this is supposed to be a just God?

According to the believers Gandhi goes to hell because he's a Hindu. So what chance do two middle class gay guys have?

It shows the intolerence of the supposedly benevolent God.

There was a time when left handed people like me were branded evil and thought of as hell-bound. Now its gay folks.

Someday people will wake up and realize it's ok to live and let live.

don't listen to what anyone says. i believe in god but, some of the things the bible states are what i believe to be fiction. the way i see it god created man. man created the bible. god did not create the bible, so as far as some of these holy rollers go they are a bunch of ******* that can't mind their own business. they have nothing better to do in their lives than to preach what they believe. well i say who in the f**k do you think you are. go read your bible and leave your beliefs to yourselves unless someone asks for it. they seem like very good people. god is love and it seems to me that they have alot of love to spread. unlike some that only see the negative side.

They don't have to go to Hell and if they do it is their CHOICE. God doesn't pull our strings like a puppet master. He gives all of us free will.

We are saved by GRACE, not by works. So, while it's nice that Holly and Jim do good deeds, it is does not guarantee salvation.

No, according to Jesus, they go to Hell for not trusting God enough to obey him. Instead, they do good deeds in an attempt to impress God (and others) with how holy they are, which seems like pride to God, not goodness.

Faith means that one trust God enough to try to obey him.
