I guess you could do jumping jacks or something. It sounds like you're just making up excuses. No one likes to excersize so you've got to make yourself like it. I hate going to the gym, I think everyone is laughing at me trying to figure out all those machines. I just made a cd of all the songs that get me going and before I know it a half hour has gone by and I don't care if anyone is looking at me. Just go for it, make things happen!!

Dancing to your own music at home is an excellent way to get in shape. I personally like my music quite loud so I wear headphones instead of bothering my neighbors. I use a lot of moves that require bending, leg lifts, arms in the air, etc. It took me a couple of tries to get over my own embarrassment, but it was worth it.
I too can't stand the gym and still don't go for the weights and machines. I go for the racquetball. The front desk offered a list of people who also liked to play but had no partners. They also have a list for those who like to play basketball. If your gym has no such list, ask them to start one.
Don't be too quick to dismiss the cold outdoors. Warm up with a good 15 minutes of stretching, dress in layers and drink water before your stretches and after your walk. A brisk 15-minute walk burns way more calories and uses more muscle in cold weather than a warm-weather walk. It's also more dehydrating so remember your water. I use the local coffee shop as a goal (about 15 minutes away) -- I walk there quickly and take my time coming home. It’s good for my body and helps clear my mind.
The fresh air is especially good for you when you're indoors all the time. Indoor air pollution is often worse indoors than outside. Even the cleanest homes have indoor air pollution (cleaning chemicals, burning candles, air fresheners, etc) so getting outside for a bit is good for you.
I'm not convinced that weights and machines are the only way to lose weight because I've gone out of my way to make it fun for me. It's great that others can have a good time at the gym, but it's not my cup of tea.
Too, I found it easier to make changes over time than to make them all at once. I started out dancing at home, worked up to walks, then started playing racquetball. I did this over a period of a year. In that time I also came to make a few dietary changes; nothing big, just ate less meat and added more fruit and vegetables here and there.
In that year I lost 30lbs and haven't gained it back. I am still active and I am that way because I want to be -- not because I think I should. While others have lost more weight than I have, they've also gained some back. They stress over missing a workout and don't seem to enjoy themselves. If you don't like what you're doing, you're not going to stick with it.
Good luck!

I am in the same situation. Get a set of hand weights do that every other day, get a tread mill go on that every day that you do not do the hand weights, also they have a nice variety of tapes, I like the yoga and pilates because you can basically do them in your bare feet and they work wonders.

Maybe if you have a set of stairs in your househould, you can walke up and down those, with your arms out infront of you clenching your buttox. Do some crunches, situps, pushups, drink lots and lots of water, cut out all sugars and maybe other little things you could do are jumping jacks, but the real thing is bundle up in warms clothes get your butt outside and start walking!!!

2 suggestions here...vacuum every room of the house every day. it will burn up the calories. the second is to invest in a playstation 2 and buy Dance Dance Revolution. It is a great game and you just step to the music, I do it on workout mode and I burn up about 300 cals in an hour and don't have to worry about people watching me! I do workout mode, pick a program and step to it.

There are lots of exercise tapes out there. Go to your local library and see what they have. Borrow some and try them before you buy. Try different ones. Yoga, Step, Pilates, etc. My favorite is The Firm

Make love~ very good exercise.
Aside from that, I'd say it's time to pop in a fun workout video.
