Does your tap water come from a municipality or from a well? Usually wells have high mineral contents however there are municipal water supplies that do not filter out much of the lime content. The lime is not necessarily as bad for you as it is for your plumbing and fixtures.
Many bottled water comes from re-processed municipal water so it is not as good as you might think. One of the main complaints about bottted water is the need for millions of Plastic bottles which have a negative environmental impact. Here are some other criticisms of bottled water.
Both Aquafina from Pepsi-Cola Company and Dasani from The Coca-Cola Company are reprocessed from municipal water systems. Some bottled waters, such as Penta Water make unverified health benefit claims.
Bottled water processed with distillation or reverse osmosis lacks fluoride ions which are sometimes naturally present in groundwater, or added at a water treatment plant and which has an effect on the inhibition of cavity formation; the drinking of distilled water may conceivably increase the risk of tooth decay due to a lack of this element. However, most people continue to cook with common tap water and this is thought to potentially provide sufficient fluoride to maintain normal prophylaxis in many instances. Any other minerals in tap water such as calcium and magnesium are present in such minuscule amounts that their absence is compensated for many thousands of times over by other dietary sources.
Bottled water is typically printed with expiration dates. Even if the water itself is pure, a plastic container may leak chemicals into the bottled water. Storage in cool and dark places help reduce reactions. Industry associations claim "bottled water can be used indefinitely if stored properly.
If the original water bottled is not pure, especially if it contained biological contaminants, then the water quality will continue to degrade regardless of the storage container or conditions.
I do use bottled water but I use 5 gallon bottles from a source that infuses mineral content for a clean refreshing taste. I only use tap water to cook with when the water will not be absorbed by the food such as with pasta. Oatmeal on the other hand absorbs the water so I will use the bottled water. Hope that answers your question.

I would have to say Tap in general. Bottle water is just that, water that is bottle by a company to sell to you, so you can take it with you on the road or in the car. The tap water is from a utilities company that has to meet state standards and is under close watch. Both water utilities and private company do fail to meet standard sometimes. Over all the results are that tap water has less bad bacteria than bottle water. Each city has it's own taste and once you get used to it you will only notice that it is free and wet. The water company's out there show you pretty pictures of water running down streams and mountain sides, but the truth is that they get there water from the city wells just like everyone else.

If I see things floating in the water I would definitely drink bottled water. You can buy a gallon of water at the store for less than a dollar.

Tap water is normally better in most cities, but in your case, you would be better off with bottle water.
