why is it ok for shilpa on big brother to mock the english accent (jade) but when jo mocks hers it is racist?

you've raised a good point here and one which many people overlook. I don;t think the bullying issue is 'racist' I think Shilpa has taken over the kitchen and seems to dictate meal menus and times and there's some resentment. However, the three other girls (Jade, Jo and Danielle) have ganged up in a bitchy clique and that's their target - I really don't think race has anything to do with that.
I admire Cleo for standing apart and being neutral, in cases like this it is best not to get involved in case you're the next target.

Being an indian, i'll be the first to admit, that its NOT racist, neither is calling someone a dog, accusing someone of poisoning them, or calling an indian person, indian. If the claims made that Jack called her a paki are true, then that definitely IS racist. Also;
Danielle- 'Maybe in India, thats how they cook chicken?'
Jo- 'Yeah thats why they're so skiny, because they all have the sh!ts, [laugh]
Danielle- 'I hate the way she touches peoples food, is that how they eat in her country? it's disgustin'
Jo- 'Yeah, disgustin, you don't know were there fingers have been do ya?' [laugh]
This, in my opinion, is racist. There is definitely an undertone of racism here. Think about how you would feel if you were in a foreign country and this was how people were speaking about you...??

because they mock her accent to ridicule her culture and all the things that are dear to her. If you actually watch the show, you'll find that Shilpa was not mocking Jade's accent as such, Jade was not speaking proper English and Shilpa was mocking Jade.

It's o.k to mock us because we are white but how dare any of us mock someone who is not white.
I looked on this so called petition that is on the net earlier and there was an entry fron an indian doctor who noted - "She was called an indian, she is an Indian, where's the problem with that". That is not racism, it's a statement.

I get where you're coming from. It would be racist if the house was full of Indians and Jade was the only English person - but here Shilpa is the only Indian therefore Jo/Jade/Danielle mocking her is racist. Sorry, but thats the way it goes.

some of jades comments have been racist i am afraid , at first i thought oh no someone else playing the race card but from what i saw last night and what she said about "no wonder they are all skinny" ect she was racist ... but aside from that she has been a bully as well and even had the racism not come into it bullying is bad enough anyways .... sorry but dumb and dumber and the rest are low life scum .... seem to me the only decent ones are the foreign ones!
