My buddy (21) is on his nerves about the Maryland law system and he wants to find out whether its ok to have sex with his girlfriend (17), Eventhough she turns 18 in a couple of weeks. Can someone help clarify

It's technically illegal, but I don't think it should be a big problem unless somebody (i.e. parents) decides to put the squeeze on him.

Not sure what the laws are in Maryland, but here in Missouri a female is deemed an adult at the age of 17. So it is not statutory rape. Of course the only person that has the right to press charges is the 17 year old or her parents, so tell you friend if he is gonna do it before the birthday to keep it on the down-low!

The website below tells the Legal age of consent in each state. You are in the clear, let him get it while the gettin is good. The legal age of consent in MD is 16. You can type "Legal age of consent by state" in Google, all the sites say the same thing. Good luck and have fun, safe fun, you are too young to be havin babies!

Only if it is worth going to prison over. At anytime after a breakup, she could file statuatory rape charges, and so could the parents.
