According to scripture - NO!

Lets end this senseless debate. The world is judging the religious establisment that is christianity by our actions such as the crusades or the hypocrites they've met.

Lets get one thing straight, the followers, being imperfect, are not the best examples of christianity. History and present times proves this to be correct.

However, to judge the purity of the gospel by the actions of men is wrong. Judge it based on its own merits, not by few who follow it.

The crusades were wrong. Plain and simple.

Religious establishment, that is, to institutionalize the following of christ, is wrong.

Christians judging others is WRONG.

Christians hating others is WRONG.

Christians establishing governments is WRONG.

Christians forcing beliefs on people is WRONG.

Christians institutionalizing the following of Jesus is WRONG.

Agree or disagree? If you disagree, prove me wrong with scripture. Not one verse, but a whole, cohesive idea.

What do you consider "forcing" beliefs on people? Christians, such as MLK Jr., advocating for civil rights were considered by many Southerners as forcing their beliefs on them.

And the Crusades were not wrong.

Believing that the only source of Christian thought is scripture is also wrong.

Let's see... Martin Luther King believed in equality and faught the segragation within the limits of the law of the USA. It would not matter if he was christian or not. He could have been atheist and still wanted equal rights.

Crusades were not wrong? You don't spread the gospel using a sword. It was a power move under the guise of spreading the gospel.

Scripture is the defacto source of a christianity. The holy spirit guides us, yes, but all in harmony with scripture. Scripture is the inspired word of God. To say otherwise would be an error.

So again, I challenge you to prove me wrong with scripture and not worldy wisdom.

The main problem with the crusades was that it was an attempt at "fighting fire with fire." If the Christians of that day had spent half the energy they spent rounding up mercenaries on their knees interceding for the salvation of the muslims, islam might not even exist anymore. We need to have a concerted prayer effort for them now. The battle is not against flesh and blood....
