Hi Kerry
Unsure why you're unsure. Has sterilisation been offered to you by your doctor. I was sterilised in my mid 20's. I already had my family by then and due to medical problems sterilisation was important and necessary for me. Don't be pushed into something you don't want to do be sure you have all the facts and are happy with yourself to go ahead. Back when I had it done I also smoked and was overweight. I no longer smoke. That came later. Take one thing at a time and make sure you are sure.

Hun, is being sterilised really the end of the world??? Not everyone wants children, I know I don't. About the weight issue, if you're that bothered, go to a health food shop, theres tablets called Cider vinegar, take one a day (I think). You'll wee it away!!! I can't really help much on the smoking, I don't smoke, apart from chewing gum can help & nicorettes. xxx

We don't know anything about your personal circumstances and your reasons for wanting to be steralised, so I think you need to be sure it's what you really want. I think you should talk to a doctor, I don't expect many people on here are medically trained, but the doctor is and will give you the information/reassurance you need before making this decision including the risks to your health, if any.

Can't reasure you because you have a very unhealthy life style. You want to stop worrying about it? Then lose the weight and stop smoking. Get some exercise.

No. Nobody can reassure you, if you mean impotent.

There are plenty of other concerns for anyone overweight and who smokes.

It is a tough situation to begin from. It will take time to deal with the two problems. I hope that you can deal with them.

Are you worried about the anaesthetic? If so you have a right to be but remember the doc's won't do it unless you are physically up to it. If you are worried about it being permanent, don't have it done if you are in any way uncertain.

Why are you worried about getting sterilised? You should be more worried about getting cancer or having a heart attack.
