depends... how many breaths per minute do you have? it's hard without any meds if you're having resp distress especially if you have a history of asthma. i usually give my patients albuterol for something like that. if you have hand-held nebulizers use that. don't take any chances. the shortness of breath you're experiencing is probably caused by your brochiis narrowing. and why do you have narrowing of your brochiis? ding ding ding!!! thats right! its because you had asthma!

The cause of shortness of breath comes from to different factors. one is inflammation: Asthma. the other is cardiovascular reaction from medication. while the drug prevents inflammation in the lungs from asthma; however its causes hypertensive or hypotensive reaction to another part of the lung. your exchanged one evil for a lesser evil.. basically this is how a lot of medications work. the real concern to S.O.B during sleeping or if you have sleep apnea ; but be aware that its not an allergic reaction because of your shortness of breath is a allergic reaction that causes twice the inflammation and can lead to death. my suggestion is if your S.O.D is too much for you, or its reacting to another medication RX see a doctor. now all medication side affect good 70% have a shortness of breath side affect but doesn't mean you will have shortness of breath from that particular medication. try xopenex there are S.O.B but its varies and its known to have less reactions but consult a doctor first,

You should start a breathing program. When you wake in the morning, stand by your bed and breathe deeply in through your nose. When you are as full as you think you can breathe in take a quick inhaul and hold for a couple of seconds then exhaul through your mouth. As you inhaul bring your hands and arms from your sides up over your head. As you exhaul bring back slowing to your sides. Repeat this 4 to 5 times in the morning. This excersie increases the lung ablitity to intake oxygen as well as strengthen the lungs

This crazy weather has kicked up a lot of people's allergies and asthma. If you have shortness of breath, though...you KNOW you need to see the doctor right away.

Something like Singulair may really help you.

A deficiency of the mineral Copper in your diet will cause impaired respiration and general weakness.Copper aids in the absorption of iron. It also in involved in protein metabolism and in the healing processes.................Best foods to eat which are rich in copper are whole-grain products, almonds, green leafy vegies and dried legumes - peas, beans and lentils and most seafoods.
...........Cheers.:)
