It does sound like tension headaches. If they are affecting you, "Almost daily," you may want to speak with your physician after trying several options. More than likely, you carry your stress in your neck and shoulders and that is what is triggering the headaches. So, you need to try to do away with as much of the stress as you can.

Here's what comes to mind:

1) If you are a person that tends to be high stressed and/or high strung (Type A personality), you need to prioritize your life and activities. What must be done right now, what can wait, and what really isn't that important? Have lists if you need that include High Priority- must be done in the next 72 hours; Middle Priority- need to be done in the next week or so; and Low Priority- when you get to them, you get to them.

2) Be mindful if you are taking Advil or other medications for long periods of time. They can mess with your stomach and disgestive track.

3) Try to relax and decompress everyday. Find something that you enjoy and helps you re-center. It could be swimming, running, taking a bath, read a book, cooking, etc. Be sure to try to fit whatever activity it is into your daily or near daily routine.

4) Try weekly massages for a short time just to relieve the muscles in your neck and upper back. Hopefully, after your headaches have stopped, try to make time to do such things on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. If you feel yourself coming into a time of high stress, increase the frequency to avoid the headaches.

5) Try to physically and emotionally remove yourself from your stressors. Whether it be a weekend getaway or a trip to someplace new every so often (museum, restaurant, local attractions).

6) Be sure that you are getting enough rest. Although my husband can function on 6-7 hours, I need about 9-10 hours of sleep a night. Everybody's body needs different things. If you're getting to a point that your chronically not giving your body the support it needs, something is going to give. Make an effort to be aware of what you're eating, how often your exercising, and how much sleep you are getting. All these things will play a large role in your overall health.

7) Check for triggers of your headahces- is it sunlight? computer work? lighting at work/home? glasses or contact lenses? are you reading with a book or computer too close? Try to mitigate these, as well.

1. When is the last time you had a headache? Couple of years (regular one) 2. What did you take for your headache? Advil 3. When is the last time you had a hangover headache? About a week ago 4. What worked for this headache? Time 5. What doesn't work at all for your headaches? Banging my head against a wall 6. Do you get dull headaches or throbbing headaches? I usually do not ever get headaches. When I do (regular ones) they are usually dull. A hot bath or real good massage works wonders. A chiropractor may help too to get you back in working order!

If you think they are tention headaches, here is a quick test. Feel your neck when you do not have a headache. Pay attention to how the nerve cords feel at the back of yor neck. When you get a tention headache these cords come close together and some time may produce a knot at the back of your head.
More tention headaches are cased from worring.

Sinus headaches can be felt as pressure in the front forehead or the ears first and can move to the central part of your head. You can some times see the sinus swell from the brow of your forehead to the sides of your nose. Typically medication are use to treat this complaint.

Increase the amount of water you drink. Dehydration can cause headaches also.

Even if you try the other methods for tension headache, it won't hurt to increase your fluid intake. I was a non-believer in dehydration causing a headache, but I tried drinking a bottle of water when I woke with a headache. Dang if it didn't make it go away!

Yup, muscle tension. Try to relax and breathe when something stresses you out, and if that heat pack thing works, go for it! Some people get such bad headaches they have to take prescription meds, so consider yourself lucky!
