you can risk it but the best adivce as you yourself answered is not to get it. It should be healed enough by then to be ok as long as you take good aftercare. Leave your bandage overnight (taking it off early will CAUSE scabbing by air exposure). just make sure to only use a light lotion like cocoa butter one or twice a day.
The point of not soaking it is that if you scab and the scab comes off early it can pull a chunk of your colour out leaving a blank spot that will have to be touched up. its not going to kill you but you will have to go through the pain again just to get it fixed.

Wait until after the swim class is concluded before getting the tattoo. It's important for the first few weeks that a healing tattoo not soaked in water (showering is fine, but not a bath) because it will cause the scab to peel away prematurely and possibly damage the tattoo itself.
Taping it won't do a whole lot of good as it would only keep the water out for a limited period and not during vigorous activities. If the covering comes off while you're in the water, you will have a problem.
Just wait until you have a few weeks where the tattoo can have time to heal properly before getting one.

i have a total of ten tattoos so therefore i think i know alot about them. if your tattoo has not been fully healed it would be wrong to go swimming because it will drain the ink from the tattoo and it might put u at risk also to catch an infection in the tattoo also. but that is if the tattoo is less than a week and a half old , the size, and the depth of the tattoo.

The main reasons to avoid pools are because soaking the tattoo for long periods of time is not good for the image, pools are FILTHY and full of germs increasing a risk to get an infection and the harsh chemicals can ruin the image as well
If you got a tattoo now, in two weeks, you should be okay.

I have 13 big tattoos so far, and I only leave just over a week after I had one done until I go swimming again. All mine have been totally fine with this, but I guess everyones skin is different. Just remember to pat it dry with a towel as soon as you get out :)

No do not swim, for at leastttttt 3 weeks after getting a fresh tattoo.
Why would you want to jeopardize ruining a new tattoo??

i guess you should get it as soon as possible but obviously the quality and durability of the tattoo are not very important to you. the fact is that if it is not properly healed the chlorine could damage the tattoo or worse bacteria in the water (after all it is a public pool shared by who knows and all of their germs) could cause an infection in your new tattoo. i would never immerse my new tattoo in water until a full two weeks has passed.

The chemicals in the water wont do anything but bad things to your new ink. There is a possibility of the ink coming out. A small possibility but still a possibility.I would wait because a coverup tat doesnt always look the best.
