A DR10 is endorsed on your licence for 10 years, if you DD again in this time period you will get an automatic 3 year ban.
Insurance companies on their proposal forms normally ask if you have had any convictions in the last 5 years. However, if you have a claim the norm is to ask for a copy of your licence and if you have not declared your DR10 the chances are they will not pay!

Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is:
drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80
Insurance normally asks any convictions/points on your licence within the last 5 years, so if it's over 5 years from the date then you don't have to disclose it but it does stay on your licence for 11 years.

Go with Andy B on this; they usually only ask about convictions within 5 years.
If they don't ask, you don't need to tell 'em, but don't ever lie on your application. If they find out you have, you're out on your own pal!

Even after five years, you still have to disclose if you have ever been convicted of drink driving.
