it may have meant, in conjunction with the introduction of the iMac, internet. It is my belief that for the most part people relate the meaning "Individual" to anything utilizing the "i" prefix.

Usually the i means internet or interactive. In the case of iPod I don't think it means anything, it has basically become synonymous with apple products such as iMac, iPod, iPhone.

It used to mean interactive, or internet - but now you just stick in front of anything you want to sound whizzy.
