Yesterday, she woke up with the flu again, making this the 4th time. How many times can a child possibly get the flu? She has lost 8 pounds in the past 2 months. She throws up and her belly constantly hurts and she gets a high fever. She won't eat anything. I took her to the emergency room last time, and they only did a urine test and everything came out fine. As a parent, would you take your daughter into her doctor for a second opinion?

My daughter does attend Kindergarten and prior to this, she attended preschool for 2 years. Before she attended preschool, she attended daycare for a half of a year.

Dear One, this could be something very serious. I'm not trying to scare you at all. But something bigger could be going on. Stay on top of the doctors until you get an answer. Change doctors if you have to.

Yes, I would take my child to another doctor. Document all symptoms. Keep a journal, you'll never remember it all. Also, inclde the medicines you gave her in the journal, she could be allergic. I hope it is nothing worse than the flu. Best wishes.

Gee this sounds more like a virus than the flu. A norovirus causes the same symptoms and lasts 3 to 5 weeks. Ask doctor about that possibility.

Take her to a different pediatrician. It sounds like what my daughter experienced which had nothing to do with cold/flu. It was gastroenteritis. Which was a stomach virus that caused a host of other flu like symptoms. She too lost weight and would not eat without vomiting. Have her intestinal tract tested!

It doesn't sound like any "flu" to me. One doesn't usually throw up with the flu, and yes, after visiting the emergency room I would have had a "follow up" with her doctor to make sure everything was back on track.

does she go to school or daycare? If yes than she is getting germs from there. Sounds like my daughter she has had a terrible cough since december and I can still hear it. There was a report that whooping cough is on the rise for children and it can last for 2 months. If you take her out to playgroups or indoor playgrounds wash her hands immediately, carry a sanitizer with you. Sorry about your daughter its very draining, and exhasting for you to care for her when she is sick. Hope she feels better soon, and give her vitamins and healthy snacks to keep up her strengh.

Did she ever go to school or daycare before this year? If not the first year is the worst. Their immune system has to adjust. I always go by my motherly feeling. If she is getting fever alot I would be very concerened. If not it very well could be viral and she keeps catching it. If you are not happy with the doctors results go some where els.

I doubt it's been the flu every time.

Yes, you need to take her to her doctor.
