What is the correct way to quote diologue between two characters in a book? Basically, is this correct..

“’Your job, Sonny, is to build your rockets’
‘Why?’
‘If for no other reason, because it honors you and this school.’” (254)

I don't know whether or not to use the single quotation marks.

You use single quotation mark within a conversation IE "How many of you use 'Answers from Yahoo' for homework?" " We all do", the class answered. So the answer is NO. You are not quoting inside a quote. Got it?

Which format are you quoting in? APA? MLA? It depends I believe. Check on google.com, search for MLA format or APA format and many websites come up to help you.

I believe you are to use single quotes when quoting when someone else wrote down what someone said. Example:

"Mom said 'you must go home', Steven said."
