I found out I am four weeks prego last week, and now medicaid, wic, and everything else has denied me becuz my hubby and I make too much money. I thinks is bullsh*t! Why can freaking lazy azz people get on alllllllll the damn government assistance programs but the people who are working their asses off get DENIED DENIED DENIED. Not all people on medicaid and all that are lazy but alot of them are. So basically I have to quit my job so I can give my kid a freakin chance to be healthy! We need to re0educate the people working, this makes no sense, its telling the people hey if you dont work you dont have to we'll help you be lazy!

Yeah I just got off the phone with my technician she was trying to deny me before she even saw me! Oh but Im still going and Im gonna express my opinion on this govt. assistance sh*t. They are assisting us, their not paying all of our bills, such as rent, utilities, gas, car payments, car insurance, groceries and whatnot. Its true, people are scamming our govt. and getting away with it. I too have college education and so does my hubby and Im barely making over the new minimum wage. Which I bet they dont take that into consideration either! My husband is in alot of debt from stuff before he met me, and I have student loans myself. I think this system is a crock.

Obviosuly I cant afford it! Who f*ckin could without any insurance? How am I making enough if I barely make minimum wage? No those" poor people" are theo nes who should get off of their asses not the ones who are working hard and still cant make ends meet. You dont know what you are talking about. Obviously you have been living off the govt. too long and they have brain washed you into thinking being lazy is just fine. Like I said not all people who want to be or are on medicaid are lazy, but I dont think being poor should qualify a person for assistance, I think it should be as long as they are working and show proof of bills and income they should get on something! Even if it is a discount program! Most americans cant afford medical without insurance, so i wouldnt go there saying Im too rich !

No they are saying we cant make anmore than 1600 a month, who could live of that anyway? Rent 500 a month, electricity 175, gas bill 120, gas for our cars to go to work about 200 a month, groceries we spend about 200 a month, my student loans are 200 a month, his credit card payment- 200, phone bill-100, internet-80, car insurance for both of us- 150. He pays 300 a month for child support. And our checks together is about 1800 after taxes. So we are poor.

Who thinks its fair?
Okay, so I have another question from my last one. Who thinks its fair that if we are pregnant and both the man and woman are working hard to make ends meet, but make too much according to a piece of paper and get denied for any medical? They dont look at anything such as monlthy bills, groceries, gas for cars to go to work, and whatever else we have to use to live! But there are people out there who choose not to work, they just pretend that their looking for a job and automatically get any assistance there is?

The one I have now was a graduation gift, becuz I was walking to and from school and work for sveeral months. And it has about 160,000 miles on it and it is always in the shop.
Are you morgaged up to your eyeballs? Could you get by in less of a house to create some cash flow? No the house I have now is a tiny small two bedroom, in order for me to get into the shower I have to walk sideways because the wall, sink and toliet are all right there the kitchen is the same way.
Are you extremely frugal with your eating habits, or could you put the squeeze on? We shop at the cheapest grocery store in town and half the time the food we buy is rottenHow often do you eat out vs. cooking in?
Do you get salon manicures? (DIY and save $$!) No I have only had two manicures inmy life

And I dont go anywhere for fun such as movies. I havent seen any of my friends or family since before thanksgiving and they only live an hour away. So I dont have a luxurious lifestyle right now. I cant even afford to buy myself clothes for work, I have two pairs of pants and like three shirts, and they are changing our policy again at work for clothes, and then I really dont know what Im gonna do. I dont get anything that isnt needed. All of our money goes to stuff we have to have. I do have the lowest monthly plan on my phone

I do have a degree in ECE. The reason Im making what I am is because I live in a very small town with no job opportunities. So after I was a teacher for a few months temporarily I had to have this job until I can find a better job in education. Right now there isnt much happening here for that. Just waiting for an opening basically. But for now Im working in a no respect, low paying job at wal mart. I respect the customers, and I get all of my work finished fast and accurately, while everyone else sits on their bums and talks to each other. I cant wait to get a better job honestly.

I understand your complaint have had it several times myself. My mom works for the department of job and family services (has for 17 years)and she does not understand why it is the way it is. Just know there are others out there in the same boat.

I am sorry you are stuck at the moment. For the delivery you can talk with the hospital and work out a financial deal with them, a payment plan and a cap on how much you are liable for. They will bill an insurance company almost 10,000 for a vaginal delivery where they will only bill an individual around 2,300.
Buy you baby stuff slow and steady, start after you are 12 weeks so that you don't get a big financial hit all at once. You can safely buy a lot of things like clothes and toys, almost everything but a carseat and bottles, second hand.
I know with an income of 1800.00 a month you should still qualify for WIC and that will help.
As far as health insurance for your child, each state has a low-cost health insurance you can apply for. It is not medicaide and you will have to pay for it, but its around 50.00 a month. Google your state and 'low-cost state health insurance for children' and you should get the link.
I don't mean to be rude, but if you have student loans I would assume that you have a degree- so why are you only making just over minimum wage? Can you look around for another job? Can you try taking one or two classes at a community college to offset your loans again for a while?

You will have to just have to get rid of some of luxuries. The Internet is a luxury and so is cable TV if you have it. I've known people in tight spots and they had to switch to basic cable and got rid of the Internet for awhile. In your case, if you really need the internet..get Netzero for $10 a month. Vonage has a phone service that goes through cable for $25.00 a month.
You can cut corners and save probably $200 a month by giving up a few things. You say you are poor. Poor people do not pay $80 for internet and those that do pay it and don't have to should not get assistance.
Oh..and No..I dont get manicures or go out to eat. I think those things are a waste of money but thats just me.

I am sorry and I feel the same way, I just wanted to get on wic because I had to go off work earlier than expected and didn't get paid for any of it so we were a little behind on bills so I just wanted wic until we got caught up but I was denied because my husband makes too much. Although in IL you can still get on medicaid if you are pregnant no matter how much you make if you don't have insurance. Good Luck!

the government has their guidelines about the maximum amount of income to qualify. they do not take your monthly expenses into account, such as your two car notes, insurance, mortgage, cell phones, credit cards, electricity...i suggest you find ways to cut corners with your expenses so you will have more money to work with. i make minumum wage and my husband does not make much in the navy, but we have to cut back on luxuries so we have enough to eat and enough gas to get back and forth to work. if you have a cell phone, change your plan to get the lowest amount available and use it for urgent calls only. if you pay a mortgage, see if you can refinance to get your monthly payment down. call around and get quotes from different insurance agencies and see if there is a cheaper company than the one you are going through now. medicaid is always available to pregnant women and children until they are 18, if no medical insurance is available for them, no matter how much money they make. be sure to breastfeed your baby, formula is very costly and breastmilk is best for the baby anyway.

I agree with you 100%, I am having the same problem, my husband works but as of now he is temp. layed off. I had to leave my job as soon as I found out I was pregnant (med. reasons) so we only have his income, now its close to nothing and we still are denied. I have a college education and he is in the trades so we are not going to USE the system, we just need temp help. I thought thats what aid was for, I guess I was wrong, Its only for the LAZY or for the people who scam the govt. !!

Hi there! sorry to hear you're in such a bind. You should check with your County offices (if you are in the USA) ...most have an organization called Medically Indigent Assistance. I'm not sure if you have to already have the bill from the hospital or not but it won't hurt to check and find out. I hope this information helps you out.

So let me get this right - you are complaining because you are not poor enough to get assistance. Why should we pay for your child when obviously you have enough money to pay for it yourself. Medicaid is for people who are too poor to get any other form of medical assistance not for folks who decide to have a baby and just dont want to pay even tho they can afford it.

Medicaid is for the very poor, they go by how much you make per year and you obviously make too much money for that, they don't really look into all of your bills they mostly go by income. You and your husband probably make enough money to pay for your baby
