yes if you gain the employment

Asking for a copy of your reference once you start your new job
Once you start working for a new employer you can ask them for a copy of any reference they've been given from your previous employers. They should supply it to you under data protection law.

The employer should send you a copy of the reference as standard. There is no harm in asking to see a copy though!

Hi, I didnt think they could give a bad reference, but look at this site...

http://www.quintcareers.com/job-search_references.html

where i read this...
Julia Chase, owner of References-etc.com, a reference-checking company for job-hunters, notes that a full 64 percent of all references checked by her company are either negative or indifferent. "People think that previous employers won’t give bad references, but they are wrong and a bad reference can, just like a bad apple ruin the bunch," Chase says.

Company's don't usually give out bad references - what they are more likely to do is refuse to give one - implying if they did - that it wouldn't be good. If you still got the job you applied for forget about if they gave you a bad one or not?

Not from the person who they gave the reference to. I think they are meant to be confidential.
