Does anyone know of any shampoo's and conditioners that are not tested on animals? I am not too bothered if more expensive than normal ones.

It's very hard to find good shampoos that don't test on animals... Mainly because the most common shampoos sold today DO cruelly test on animals.

Some (beauty) companies that DO test their products on animals (DO NOT BUY THESE PRODUCTS): Clairol, CoverGirl, Finesse, Pantene, Sally Hansen, Glade, MAX Factor, Jovan, Nair, Neutrogena, Listerine, Playtex, Coppertone, L'Oreal, Olay, Procter & Gamble Co (the owner of hundreds of well-known brand names, and one of the WORST companies for animal testing), SoftSoap, MAC, Jergens, Secret, Old Spice

Companies (beauty) that do NOT test on animals (many of these aren't very well known): ABBA, Alba, Aloe Vera, Aveda, Avon, Botanics, Burt's Bees, Chanel, Clinique, Color Me Beautiful, Conair, Essential Oil Company, Giovanni Cosmetics and Hair Products, Gigi, Hard Candy, Jojoba, Mary Kay, Natural Bodycare Inc, Pangea, Revlon, Tom's of Maine, Paul Mitchell

btw, some of The Body Shops's products have been found to have been tested on animals, even though the company states that it's "cruelty-free"

hope my answers helps! =]

Lush which has already been mentioned do a whole range of cosmetics, bath bombs, shampoo's none of which are tested on animals I have used the shampoo and never been disappointed in them, great smells hand made and worth the money, also use their other products really recommend them.(no I do not work for the company!)

Body shop do not animal test.
And if you do a search there are numerous other non animal testing products.

Most products now have a symbol on the bottle and if you read the back it should tells you they do not animal test.

Good luck

In addition to Nature's Gate and J/A/S/O/N, there's also Lush, which makes shampoo bars and liquid shampoo. They also have one vegan conditioner, called Veganese, that smells deliciously citrusy. As someone else pointed out, your local Whole Foods (or natural foods store) will have lots of shampoos with fewer chemicals and that are less likely to have been tested on animals.

I can't think of any brands srtaight off, though I think Tesco's own shampoos/conditiners/soaps etc are not tested on animals. One thing to watch out for on 'anti-testing' labels is:

'Asda does not condone or agree to the testing of products on animals'

compared to:

'Tesco products and ingredients are not tested on animals'.

See the difference?

Most shampoo's in uk don't use animal testing any more. It will tell you on the bottle. If it says dermatologically tested then it hasn't been tested on animals.

Congratulations on your choice to be cruelty free. Here is a link to a website where you can look to see who does and who doesn't test on animals:

Most all professional shampoos and conditioners are not tested on animals. Talk to your hairstylist. Yes, they may be more expensive, but they are also more concentrated then drug store brands, so you can use less product.
