crows do build nests, but only in the spring to use for thier eggs. Most birds only nest build during the breeding season for the purpose of breeding, birds do not generally live in nests. At night they usually just roost in a tree to sleep for the night.

Where Do Crows Nest

The Crows Nest is a term for the partly enclose high lookout platform on the mast of a sailing 'tall ship'. There is a real crow's nest at the top of a tall tree near to where I live. The birds perch very precariously on the adjacent branch and when the wind blows, the nest sways about. I suppose this is why the nautical version felt inspired to call a ship's 'look out point' by this name.

Very few birds actually "live", much less "sleep", in their nests. Nests are generally used only during breeding season.

Crows and most other Passerines sleep deep within thickets, pine trees, tightly knit groves, some roost in buildings or roosting boxes.

I scanned some sites but the very first one gave mis-leading information. go figure, you can't trust the Internet
