God knows where to draw the line. We are responsible when we we are responsible. : )

Some people will never be held accountable for the following reasons. 1 mental illness
2 low intelligence
3 insanity
4 being brought up with an iron rod (broken home and
can't get a proper foot hold in life because no one
wants to give them a break so there forced to steal to
steal in order to survive )
5 not understanding how wrong it is of what they do or
are compelled to do because they suffer from mental
illness

If you are asking who among us is worthy of going to Heaven, and we have a sin nature since birth, then we give man a lot of credit by saying anyone, above or below the age of reason, deserves eternal life. You could even extrapolate this to when we're asleep with that logic, since I don't have a choice during that time. Everyone A to Z, throughout history, needs a Savior, including babies and adults with a mental deficiency.

Yes, I believe that if a person was born with a lack of intelligence, and is an adult now, and they still do not know the differences between wrong & right then they are still considered as babies in our Holy Lords Eyes.

God, Who has all wisdom is alone able to judge, and His understanding far surpasses ours. Of course it would!
One bit of insight we can glean from the Bible is found in the book Jonah, where God has had mercy on Ninevah, mentioning the children that were so young they didn't know the difference between their left and right hands. Verse11, chapter4.
There is an age of accountability, the mental age where a person knows the difference between right and wrong. But when that time is in a person's life, only God can tell.

If an adult is severely mentally impaired, he or she will not be held accountable for their sins. God is fair and some adults may have the mind of a two year old.

I believe that there are people who are seriously compromised intellectually who do not know right from wrong (like babies). My best guess is that they will be raised neither with the righteous (they have not accepted the Messiah) not with the wicked (they have not intentionally refused to accept Him). I cannot cite Scripture to support this view, But I am certain that what the Almighty does will be satisfactory, and everyone will accept that it is fair and generous, and I can't think of any other answer that would qualify.

I've been told that in Islam mental ability is considered in determining culpability, actually. But I don't know for sure whether or not that's true. As for Christianity or any other religion, I don't think so. I think that people who don't have the ability to understand right from wrong are still meant to burn in hell if they sin...

Oh, but, then again, according to many Christians, 'belief is all'. What you actually _do_ has nothing to do with it...

Depends how low you are talking about. Eight year olds are held accountable but three year olds are not..

Yes they are.

it would be despicable as a society to not make scientologists (especially tom cruise), mel gibson and pauly shore responsible for thier sins.

here it is like a child that cannot reason between right and wrong-a person of diminished mental capacity would fall under accountability.
