Are you talking on a first date? I always offered to pay for part of the bill or leave the tip at least. I never expected things, although it is VERY nice if the date went well and the guy insists that I put my money away even after I offer.
I also kind of base it on who asked who out in the first place. Not that the asker should always pay, but I think if you are asking someone out then you should plan on paying anyway....and if it does not turn out that way then cool for your wallet!

As gentleman I always pay, if i ask them out its my responsability, but there women who dont like that, some think you want something if you pay. Depends on the woman, and whats she wants but i insist.

Who ever asks pays, but yeah it will make you look good and not shallow so offer its a nice gesture

depends on the situation and person, I would but i have friends who wont. So go prepared to pay all and if she offers accept.
