i have Malaysia driving lisence and my friend told me i can drive up to 1 year. Afterthat, i need to change it to UK lisence. My concern is, someone told me that the 'up to 1 year' means you can drive the 'first year' you came to UK.

As i've been here in UK for more than 1 year, but never drive so far, can i still buy a car and drive with my current malaysia lisence?

Thanks

I dont think you can since you only have two options of applying a UK license or an international license. Unless the road structures and signs on the roads are similar to the UK like former UK colonies or current UK colonies and territories, you may get to drive in UK with maybe review of the signs, driving rules in UK, and get driving test. I suggest you may need to apply a UK license since I heard that you only can drive to UK the first year you came to UK and you need to apply a UK license or a valid international license. So it may be safer for you to get a UK license before you buy a car
