Results of a Thyroid Hormone Blood Test:-
The level of your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). At most labs in the U.S., up until late 2002, the normal range is from around 0.5 to 5.5. That range changed to .3 to 3 as of early 2003.
Depending what parameters were used, depends upon the results, You state the result was 0.17 so it appears that your results fall within the normal range.
If the TSH level is below normal, your doctor may determine that you are hyperthyroid (overactive thyroid.)
If the TSH level is above normal, your doctor may determine that you are hypothyroid (underactive thyroid.)

You state T3 = 4. Here, again, we come to a difference. There are 2 different T3 tests. Total T3, or a Free T3, However, due to your answer, it would seem that a Free T3 has been done as the values of a Total T3 are different. The Free T3, normal range is approximately 2.3 to 4.2. If this is the case, your results appear to fall within the normal limits.

With your T4 test, you do not state which T4 test was done. There are 2 for this test as well. Total T4 or Total Thyroxine, and a Free T4 or Free Thyroxine. The Total T4 or Total Thyroxine, normal range is approximately 4.5 to 12.5. If you had a low reading, and a high TSH, your doctor might consider that indicative of hypothyroidism. However, if your doctor ran a test called Free T4, or Free Thyroxine, the normal range is approximately 0.7 to 2.0. If your result was less than 0.7, your doctor might consider that indicative of hypothyroidism. Your result from the T4 test of 22 would appear to be elevated.

All these details may vary between different laboratories. You should consult your doctor for details and explanations of the results that you have quoted and also with regard to your reference to a blood pressure that is increasing abnormally, or abnormally increased (? elevated)
Hope this is of help
