Me and my bf have been together off and on for 4 years now. I really love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him, but how can I be so sure? How do I know that there is not something else out there? I can't tell him I want to explore, that would make him think I don't love him but that's not the case at all but how can you ever be sure you've found "the one"?

First there's no such thing as the perfect mate. But when you find some one who makes you go nuts especially when you're apart and you love him or her so much that it's all you can think about just being with them even if you've had your fights and bad moments. Then I'd say yes he's maybe the one but you'd better be sure that you're sure about it. Don't wind up married to a looser. Trust your heart. I'd have a heart to heart with your mother on this and maybe even his mother but make sure he doesn't know about it. That way you can really get to know him better if you get my drift. Also just give it time, love and understanding. Who knows maybe he's wondering this about you as well is she my one?

You said you been going on and off with ur bf, meaning you've gone a long way with each other.
Just do you best and leave the rest , if both of you will be together than nothing can change it.... such is life babie grl friend.....

If he was the one, you wouldn't be questioning it. All you would want is to spend your life with him. Did he do something to make you doubt him or yourself?
If your not sure, take a break. So many people take breaks and then two months later realize how much they care and then get back together and live happily ever after. (my parents did and they are the most in love couple I have ever meet, married for almost 30 years)
Don't stress, you'll know when you know.

If you have the urge to still explore, you can't really love him. It's true to a point.
You have to settle for about 60-75%. You'll never find the 100%. If that's good enough, there's no reason to explore or worry about what else is out there.

You are having doubts and anytime there are doubts that already answers your questions. If he is not the focus of your life then he is not the one. You should wake up each morning with a smile and thoughts of your future together. It's true we all take chances in life and we all learn the hard way. If your heart and your head are not on the same level then you must continue your search. Don't waste your life on divorce and the big "What If" broaden your horizons a bit. Don't just jump with what you know because you are comfortable with it.

THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS THAT CAN ASSURE U THAT HE'S THE ONE:
1)THERE MUST HAVESTABILITY IN UR RELATION.
2) HE IS THE ONE WHO'LL MAKE U SUCH COMFORTABLE THAT U WOULD NEVER EVER WNNA LOKK IF THERE S ANYTHING OUT THERE.
3) U'LL FEEL LIVING ON THE TOP OF THE WORLD EVEN IF IT'S 10 YR OLD RELATION

i agree with dave... romantic ideas that there is one person for you out there is lame. Maybe he's the one for you right now, maybe not. there could be hundreds of people you could be good with. There's no such thing as one true love, out soul mate thats out there for us. and if you do believe in this. I don't think he's the one because if you have to question it then how true can it be?...

when all you do is think about the other person and how you wanna make them happy and how they make you happy and if you are ever off again and still think about them all the time that its driving you crazy your heart is literally falling to pieces and you cant see your life go anywhere without them in it

You can't know that hes the one. Give it more times, try your best to get know him more without having him notice. Everyone are not prefect, so he is not too. You don't need to know the asnwer if hes the one.
