I heard it was the central coast in NSW but does anyone know for sure where it is?

This is just a simple question, i am wondering if what i heard was correct or not and had no purpose other than to satisfy my curiosity much like any other question

I don't know, but as a general rule, places far from the coast have the highest suicide rates. For instance, here in NZ Hamilton, our only major population centre inland, is our suicide capital, and for a long time Hungary, a landlocked country had the highest rate in the world. The coast seems to have a soothing effect; it certainly has on me. Probably Minerva's answer is correct. I lived in small towns in Aussie and NZ. I've now moved out into the country. In my opinion, small town community types are nasty and vicious for the same reason that jailbirds are; underneath the bluster and boasting, they know they're the lowest of the low. Jailbirds pick on child molesters and various other minorities, and drongoes who've been brought up in the same small village all their lives pick on visitors and outsiders. Like that Kris Kristofferson song says, everybody's got to have somebody to look down on. I never learned to take responsibility for myself until I'd left home. If you haven't left the small town you were born in by the time you're 20 or so, you'll never grow up. In both Aussie and NZ, small-town types blame everybody except themselves for their misfortunes. They're the worst sort of people to have around when you're depressed or having problems.

from what i've picked up studying, youth suicide is most prevalent in young males in rural communities. i've never heard of the central coast being anywhere near as much as rural areas, but there you go.

i dont really know. i have heard that in general it is little outback towns that have the worst time of it with youth suicide tho
