You may need to find the audio drivers for your sound card. The beeps still work as it is a small speaker inside the PC.

Go to the device manager and you can see what hardware has not been installed properly and do a search for anything you need to install.

It could be that the sound card you have is not compatible with XP soft wear you may have to upgrade your sound card. But first try contacting Microsoft via your computer because they may be able to rectify the problem without any UN-due cost on your part. I have found Microsoft to be very good at solving such problems for there customers.

Do you have the original disks that came with your computer? Hopefully they have the correct sound drivers on.

Otherwise, try looking in device manager to fathom the type of sound card you have, and then contact the manufacturer to get XP drivers.

First, you must know what is the name and version of your sound card. Then, install the driver for it.

Welcome to the club.

I just went to the web and found an acceptable driver. Beware, you may have to experiment by adding and deleting drivers until you find the correct driver.
