The type of food you eat can also effect the way you smell. Being Asian, I eat a lot of garlic and my natural body odor is different than most other people. I don't notice it (obviously), but others will. Most of the time it is just a different smell, not necessarily a bad one, but some people who are not used to different odors can be weirded out by it.

People do have a natural smell to them that is distict from anyone elses but its not strong like a perfume or soap would smell like. I did read that couples who like each others scent stay together longer than those who dont, not atrifical scent but just natural body scent. Its all related to hormones and endorphines. Women give off a stronger sent than normal when they are menstrating making them more attractive to the opposite sex. This happens because way back when, in the caveman years, they had to reproduce to keep the species going. And thats when women are most fertile.
Check out the link. Its an article on what humans as a species find attrative on a very primal level. It answers your question and more.
;-) I am always told I smell good too....I like to think its primal urges.

That's pretty scientific if you ask me.well there was a few dozen case studies all over the world that prooves that everyone has a different smell appealing to different people and that smell is only yours and can be recognised by those close to you.there is this study that i remember the most.its about these few hundreds of housewives and their husbands' shirts.most of them can guess which shirt smell is of their husband's easily.it goes to show that everyone has their own unique body scent.
