I was on Yasmin before we started ttc again and the only problem I had was spotting every month throughout for the first 5 months of use. After I first had my youngest I had an IUD and it gave me HORRIBLE cramps. This may not be the case for others, but my Dr said that was a common side effect. Then she put me on the NUVA ring, which I loved because I hate having to remember to take a pill every day. But just know that if you have any kind of rowdy sex it will mostly likely fall out during. More commonly, it will "ring" your husband! If you do choose to use it, I suggest proper lubrication during the times of the month that you don't naturally produce it, because if not the ring feels dry (you won't notice it) but it will rub against your husband and can leave a rug burn type effect if you have a lengthy session. But if you can tolerate the small short comings of it and you are not the type to take a pill everyday, this or the patch is probably your best bet. However, if the ring falls out, you rinse it and put it back in, if the patch falls off, you have to make sure you have another one to put back on. I hope this helps.

I think the best thing if you don't want another baby for 8 to 10 years is to have your tubes tied, but don't burn them. This way whenever you are ready to untie them and have another baby you can have them untied. If you want another baby in 3 years, then I would use some other birth control. It all depends on how soon you want another baby. If you do nothing, you will have one every two years. I know, because I did nothing and had four babies before I had my tubes tied.

I use the FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) and condoms on my fertile days. For info about the FAM, get this great book:

I have a progesterone IUD, if you are postpartum, and in a monogamous relationship, this, in my humble opinion, is the best form of "no maintenance" birth control. It's low hormone, and you can forget about it!

If you want prescription birth control it's best to talk with your doctor. Explain to doctor the problems you had before with the pill and they'll evaluate other types that might be best for you. My sister likes the shot (depo) and I like that patch.
