those of the Jewish faith read the New Testament? And, if not, why?

Mostly not, because it focuses on the Messiah, and it is a central belief in the "Jewish" community that the Messiah has not yet come. "Jewish" is a poor transliteration of "YAHUDIM" which means "worshipers of YHVH" which "Jews" are not. (They don't say that word). They, as a group have drifted so far from their roots in truth that they are unrecognizable. (See Rev.2:9 and Rev.3:9). Churchianity also (what passes for "organized religion" , is really organized chaos, as it is NOT following Scripture. (which only can make us wise to salvation)

only muslims and jews have only the old testament - they vary very slightly, but it's more or less the same.
Christians have old and new testament. The new testament is what makes the difference between jews and christians.
Christians believe jesus is the messiah.
Jews believe the messiah must still come.

Most of the Jews I know have read it -- in fact, that is why they are still Jews. They can point to well over a hundred messianic prophecies and conditions he did not fulfill or outright broke according to the New Testament.

Check out http://www.jewsforjudiasm.org and you'll see many of them pretty quickly.

Manka: Never tell a Chassidic Jew that Jesus was a prophet. I know many jews who, out of doors, will spit on the ground after speaking his name, and with all the duty of a Muslim adding "Peace Be Unto Him" will say "Jesus, may his name be stricken from history."

Many Jews consider him to be of the Adversary, a distractor, a challenger, and one meant to turn people away from the Eternal Covenant. Every time a Christian says, "But we are under a new covenant," these Jews are vindicated in their beliefs... a 'new covenant' would mean God had lied to the Jews about the ETERNAL Covenant.

No, absolutely not! The New Testament or "New Covenant" is about Christianity-not Judaism. To the Jews, the New Testament is worse than an abomination. They rejected Jesus as Messiah-that is why God abandoned them for nearly 2000 years.

Because New Testament says Jesus is God, which is not acceptable to Jews. Jesus is a Prophet for them and will be respected as Prophet and not as God.

Some do - Messianic Jews or Christian Jews - Those who believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and God

Some don't - Those who don't believe Jesus Christ is who He says He was.

I have no religion whatsoever, but I've read the holy books of many major religions. I don't see why they wouldn't or shouldn't - it's just another book among many.
