Wars over the centuries was the forge our "modern" society was hammered into shape. If you like this can be a rather positive result.
Further, most breakthrough inventions originated from military appliances (Teflon, Internet, radio,...)
The single most positive result of war would be that it shows mankind how bad and damn stupid such a thing is in the first place! Without knowing about it you can't say it is a bad thing.
A negative result of war: Violence, dead people, whole countries scattered with anti-personnel-mines (Those are bad-a$$es!!), hatred, fugitives, homelessness, starvation, strife, bloodshed, warlords and others making a lot of money on the backs of innocent people, suffering, oppression of peoples, ...
Do you want me to go on?!

The positive results are, someone is making money off it. Which in turn helps the economy. The bad is somewhere in the mix up their are terrorists breading. I believe that its better to go about life the honest way. I hope people learn that we can make it without oil at last. The only real reason for fighting a war is to apply force to insure the rights of the common citizen is protected. Where tyrants get greedy it is up to some to "fight" for what is right.
If you ask any person serving in the military you will learn that we DO NOT want to fight, but we train to, so others don't have to...

For oil companies a lot of money for the same reason.
For weapons makers, the best business.
For drug traffickers, the best market with the USA troops and British.
Negative:
