I could not find the word mercaptene in Yahoo search engine. If you are talking about Mercaptan, then you already know that mercaptans are very difficult to control. Mercaptans are a sulfur based material that is added to Natural gas to give it the rotten gas odor. A little bit of mercaptan will spread a very far distance.

The best way to control a mercaptan release is to treat it on the spot with a neutralizer or a masking agent. However, there are not many chemicals that than mask mercaptans 100%.

I use Neutron Industries NI-712 masking agent when I am dealing with releases of liquid or gaseous mercaptans. However, you have to use a lot of it when the release is occurring. Even with a lot of NI-712, you will still get complaints of mercaptan odors in the area.

I would suggest that you contact your supplier of mercaptan products to see if they have anything either.
