Hot water would definitely help release the mints but it will also destroy the definition in the design. I would freeze them for a bit. Test for freezing time on a single mint to ensure perfection for the rest of the batch.

pop em in the freezer for a few (maybe 10 mins) for a flash freeze effect ... never made them so this is truly a guess based on other foods we've done this for
