It was Eleanor Roosevelt who said "no one can make you feel inferior without your permission"...you control your emotions. Everything in your life...I mean everything, is first processed thru your mind before you respond or react. Make the choice of what emotion you wish to respond with. It is absolutely this easy! If you can change your mind, you can change your reality! Shutting down your emotions completely and becoming what I call a "pod person" doesn't solve anything. Emotions are a beautiful thing to have, it's all in how you work with them.

humans are made with emotions, they cannot simply be removed like turning off a light switch. losing your emotions may feel like the easy way out of whatever your dealing with, but think how much in your life you'd be giving up if you could actually do it. you could never express love to anyone or feel anyone love you, never laugh at a joke or be happy spending time with people, the list goes on. i know you said that God does not concern you, but He loves you anyway, if you would like more information on anything i have said, or have anymore questions concerning this feel free to contact me.

You can never remove your feeling of emotion, and to do so would damage you. It makes you what you are, your emotions govern what types of behavior you might engage in. Instead of suppressing or killing them, you can try to observe them and gauge their usefullness. For example, instead of just being sad, try to recognize why you are sad and how to fix it. Being sad is an indication to you that things are not right, instead of being down about it, take some time to analyze why you feel that way and what can fix it. You don't have to be a slave to your emotions, but you can put them to better work for yourself.

For years I tried to do this myself. I wanted to be a being of pure logic. I think this was a symptom of emotional problems I had at the time. I did this by a combination of fantasy, self-harm, hard study, and constant involvement in mentally challenging tasks.
Instead of freeing myself of emotion, I now have anxiety disorders, delusions and depersonalization. (...not caused by trying to be unemotional, but I was trying to cope with the onset of these things by being unemotional.)
My advice to you: you can't change your personality, or your human nature, which is to have emotions. Wanting to free yourself of emotions suggests your emotions are very powerful and very painful to you. Things are hard to deal with, so get some help to deal with them. Not necessarily therapy, but some change in your life.
PS: You could look into Buddhism - it is a philosophy and practice, not a set of supernatural beliefs (some Buddhist sects add in supernatural beliefs, but they are not essential). The practice of meditation is supposed to help you rise above your feelings of desire and involvement, by creating a separation between your emotional self and your consciousness.

Poor thing..I'm sorry you wish to have no emotions....
You can get medications for depression/anxiety without getting therapy. Visit your family doctor and tell him/her you have anxiety problems and maybe he will prescribe you something.
What you're doing is asking for help, but only if the help is magical and instantaneous. Therapy probalby wouldn't be a bad idea..

I know this sounds probably stupid, but it worked for me...Don't think about it...think about anything else. After a while, it doesn't bother you anymore...It takes work, focus, but it does work..
