Heya, I do training already, but am just wondering what kind of results could expect if I were to do yoga. I am not very flexible (being a man). But have always considered trying it. What are the benefits, i.e. fat loss, muscle growth, etc?

Best answer chosen as always, thanks:p

Yoga is a great exercise for alot of different reasons. It relaxes the body & is a great stress reliever. It can make you more limber & flexible. If you want muscle tone then Pilates would be the way to go. With Pilates you can elongate the body, enhance muscle tone & create endurance that will help you during your regular training. Men can definitely be involved in both. I take a "yogalates" (both yoga methods & pilates in one) class & there are several men there who say the exercises not only aide in there work out routine but help with their back problems as well. Good Luck!

yeah.. it's pretty cool.... i did some in a class in college... I could really feel a difference... and i want to get back into it.

I'm not sure about the actuall details... but I know for something that moves so slow... I was really sweating and feeling like I had done a full work out...

I builds muscles because of how tight you have to hold them in awkward positions. you use muscles in yoga that don't get used in most work outs.

I do Ashtanga Yoga every day and I really feel the benefits. As a man you are just as flexible as a woman. Yoga will improve your balance, posture and strength.
Give it a go.

Yes, or even Pilate's. Men need it just as much as women. It's great for your body and you're not soar afterwards. My husband has added it to his weight routine, becasue it helps him be more flexible and less hurt after weights.

There are as many as women where I practice. It has made me far more supple, balanced and I sleep far better after practice.

I also have more sexual stamina but I'm not sure if it's related.

more just relaxation, not much muscle will be gained, you'll be more peaceful, and probably quicker, it's a good idea though.
