We are moving into a new house and will be buying a new TV when we move. We definitely want a 42" flat screen. My first choice is the Westinghouse 42" 1080p Monitor which Crutchfield (and others) have for about $1500.

However, if it is possible to find a decent display at that same size, for maybe a little cheaper, I might consider it. Especially if it was still 1080p (although that is not a deal maker or breaker).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

NOTE - the reason for the desire to have full 1080p is due to the fact that I will be hooking up a home theater PC; every bit of resoultion helps in that case.

If you want 42" and 1080p you're gonna have to look at LCD only as most plasma is still 720p - and the ones that are 1080 are much more expensive.. Make sure you audition the unit with programming you'll most often watch. With some programming the difference between plasma and LCD is very apparent unless you buy a high end LCD unit..

You will be just as happy with a 720p monitor, the great 1080p monitors will be way out of your price range.. I've heard good things about the Westy on AVS Forums (the place to research any HD decision..).

Also take a look at Panasonic Plasma screens and Sharp Aquos LCD monitors..
