with the new security measures passengers travelling to the USA must put all carry on liquids into a 'one quart' ziplock bag. I'm in metric so one quart is foreign to me. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the largest bag allowed? Dimensions in inches is ok. Please, if you can, state how you know? I've got so many different answers from various sites. cheers

Here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm If you're traveling into or out of the UK and Europe, the restrictions are slightly different.... metric for one thing, and 100ml bottles (3.4 oz instead of 3 oz in a one liter bag 20 cm x 20 cm (8" x 8") instead of one quart 8" x 7.5").
If you're traveling in the US, I'd go with the smaller size bottles just to be safe, but you should be OK with the liter size bag. Check the British Airways website: http://baa.com/

I found this on the British Airways webstie - hope it helps!

Limited quantities of liquids, gels and pastes may include:
Shampoo, suntan lotions, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray, perfumes, cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss, water and other drinks, soups and syrups and other items of a similar consistency.

All liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20 cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity.

Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.

At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately
