It all depends on the unit you will be with. Also how long your MOS School will be. Hopefully the war will be over by then. There also is different jobs within intel. Anyone can get deployed wether youre a grunt or admin. But right now it depends on the unit. Lets say youre going to the Corps, You are right now in DEP. So in lets say six months youre going to bootcamp add 3 months to that then 2 weeks leave then 2 weeks MCT then Mos school probably for 6-18 months. By then it will be 2008 who knows what will be going on. And if there is still war then you might go to a unit who just got back from deployment. Then your chances are low. But then again you can go to a unit about to deploy. So............. what Im really saying is theres now way to be absolutely positive. But your chances are good.

Every job in the Marine Corps has a chance to deployed. But because of your job you will not be on the front lines. Also once you finish your schooling and get to the base you are going to be stationed at there is no way they are going to ship you out that same week. There is too much to prepare for. There is certain training every unit does before deploying, paper work to be filled out, mandatory leave to be taking, and physicals. The Marine Corps wants to make sure that every Marine that goes is prepared physically and has their affairs in order. You will not be on the front lines but remember every Marine is a rifleman. You will do fine and the friend you will make in Marine Corps and especially while deployed will last you a lifetime. I know this from experience. Semper Fi!

You will be deployed...may not be to a combat zone, but you will go somewhere. Active can expect a 1 year home, 1 year gone ratio (army) 7months/7 months for Marines Reserve is supposed to be 1 year out of 5 gone.

Know why you joined and deployment will not be an issue. Be proud. It is hard (spent 2005 in Iraq - Reserve) but it is something to be proud of. Plan to be gone and it will b eeasier. Better than planning to not be and then getting that call.

Best of luck, congrats, and be proud

Since you'll be in the Marine Corps, your chances are good. They're not 100% (for that matter, the chances of one person deploying will never be 100%), but they're good. In intel, I'd say you have about a 60/40 shot.

I would ask your recruiter to show you how many marines that are in the Intell career field get deployed. That is a stat that is available to them. Thank you for joining the Marines. I Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

good choice of MOS. depends on the unit you go to whether you will be deployed or not. I have been deployed to Iraq twice. Learn as much as you can while you are in, and once you get out, you'll be able to land a good job, or you may decide you like the military and stay in as long as me......22 yrs.

Depends on what youre doing. If youre having a desk job the chance is minimal but if youre gonna do something like the seal or rangers then except a lot off deployment! Johan.

100 % As I am sure your recruiter told you. But they give you a good line of crap about your chances of being killed are only 1%...they don't mention your chances of being injured are 10 % and that doesn't count the depleted uranium they have dumped on the country.
