Yes, Since beans are part of the vegetable food group. Depending on which type of bean it may contain high amounts of protein.

They are. They are very high in fibre (hence the obvious side effects). They are very good for digestion. I use them in my homemade chilli con carne all of the time.

Funnily enough they can be. But I would go for low salt / low sugar kind, or low carb type (to prevent wind).

yes. they also contain iron and are low GI. I think they're a superfood!
