It all depends what trade you want to be. You will have to pass basic physical fitness tests regardless of your trade.

You won't get into the RAF Regiment or be a PT Instructor or an RAF policeman. The basic fitness requirements (on joining) are to run 1.5 miles in under 11.5 mins. See if you can do that, if you can, then consider joining.

You will have a medical before you join anyway so they'd either pass you as fit for whatever trade you want to do or say no and why not. Decide what trade you want to do, see if there are any openings in that trade, then apply.

Pilots need excellent health and have very demanding jobs. I dont think its possible to be a miltiary pilot with "a hole in your hart" but check with a doctor and or raf medical team.

If you cant be a pilot, remember this:
There is a lot off jobs in the raf that doesnt involve flying, something for you?
Civil pilots has a less demanding job (they dont have to take a lot off g forces) Maybe something? Johan

Hi Tom!
Well, in the US, you would'nt be able to be a pilot, but ouir recruiting practices are so shady, they'd probably let you in for ground work.
Then again, sometimes a hole like that could close, and possibly you could get in. You'd be best seeing a cardiologist and finding out what your condition is now.
