there's a brilliant and reasonably priced moroccan restuarant called Sofra in St Christopher's Place, which is near Selfridges.
it's an oasis of calm just off oxford street and really good food.

Wardour Street has some nice little places, mostly Japanese but not all. I can heartily recommend Satsuma, very good food!
Closer to Oxford Street proper is a little place called Bistro1, which does a good variety of wholesome inexpensive food - nothing spectacular but it's all tasty and the wine is palatable and good value.

If you're after nice food, it's generally best to head away from the main areas, as they're usuallty overpriced, understaffed and not that great.
If you head towards Soho, there are multitudes of very nice litle restaurants down the back streets. Another good Japanese one is Okawari, http://www.okawari.co.uk/, 16 Lisle street (don't be fooled by the website, Ealing isn't the only branch). Very reasonably priced; you can either fill up on a monster bowl of tasty eggy rice and chicken for about £6, or have anything from (very good) sushi to tasty curry chicken or pork .

I know the 100 club - closest tube is Tottenham Court Rd for the central line. come out of station and walk down oxford street away from Centre Point (a huge building - you cant miss) - 100 club will be on your right.
