He can spend up to 30 min. hacking & spitting; sometimes he throws up. No sinus rince, sinus medicine or anything else has helped. We have an appt with an ear, nose & throat specialist soon. Does ANYONE know what I'm talking about and has had this problem fixed. Please tell me how.

My suggestion is allergies. combined with a lot of swallowing gobbets of phlegm.

sounds like he could have a hiatus hernia(splling) i have the same prob... basically what happens is the flap that stops the tummy acid doesnt work properly so tummy acid rises and irritates the esophogus (spelling) that can cause uncontollable coughing to the point of throwng up... and because of the tummy acid the body creates more phlegm to help protect the esophogus.. the docs kept saying i had asthma till i told them to blow it out their bum hols and did my own research.. i sugest a strong antacid i take LOSEC but also consult your doc...

might also be referred to as esophogitis (spelling)

I would definately go to the doctor, it could be a sign of somrthing more serious.
