Just take your roubles and exchange them in the UK. If you convert to EUR/USD and then to pounds, you'll have to pay the exchange commission twice.

Wait until you get to the UK. There are always places to get money at airports!

If you change it twice, you have to pay two lots of commission, and will be seriously out of pocket.

We always wait until we arrive at our destination to change money... there will be a bank and usually an ATM at the airport. You only want to exchange your money once because there is a transaction fee every time you make the exchange. Take an ATM card if you have one. The US dollar is pretty weak these days. I would convert to dollars before the rate goes up.
