I am currently learning Moroccan Arabic because my husband is Moroccan. I am also trying to recall the years of French I learned in high school because it is the second language in Morocco.

Centurion: It is not as easy as you seem to think. First of all, how any terrorists to you really think discuss their plans on the telephone?! Get real. Also, there are many dialects of Arabic that you are unaware of. You would need to be a native or a linguistics expert to spy on terrorists properly.

I would love to learn one language well: japanese, korean or arabic. I like the challenge of learning a new script and pronunciation. My reasons are less for business/work purposes as I'd like to be fluent enough to use the newly acquired language for an extended vacation. I suppose I see these languages as more of a puzzle to be resolved.

Esperanto.

Through Esperanto I've gained friends world wide that English just wouldn't have allowed me to meet. Better yet, I learned it in a few short months. The grammar rules (16) I pretty much have down pat (small snags here or there) and my vocabulary is expanding at a much faster rate that it did for me in English. My progress has been faster than any other language you could name.

If you're in the Americas, try English, French, and Spanish for a start, then you can add Portuguese or Italian.

Arabic, so I can get a job listening in to terrorist's phone calls for the government. THAT is job security.

Terry G: lighten up! The problem with most of the world is nobody can take a joke anymore. Geez!
