How to avoid muscle soreness?

2007-01-16 00:23:34 · 6 answers · asked by natalia_g 2 in Health Diet & Fitness

My exercise was 45 minutes step aerobics w/ high energy & low impact, so it was sort of fast, and of course, low impact. My aim is slimmer, not more muscles because I already have the amount of muscles I want, and I'm wondering if this step aerobics workout is good for slimming thighs.

When you have muscle sorness it means you have micro tears in the muscle. this is what make your muscles glow. when they tears they grow another piece of muscle to bridge the gap.

It is really micro and there are 100's of tears.

No you do not need to worry about gaining muscle mass due to aerobics! A soar muscle COULD mean it is growing, but only if a lot of other variables are being met. Trust me, you aren't meeting those variables with your training regiment

not always bigger, but always stronger. your muscles get sore because you're using up more energy and oxygen in them than they're used to at one time, so they start making acids. it's fine, though. if you grit your teeth against the soreness and keep on working steadily on that muscle, it will eventually become much stronger and won't become sore anymore.

Apparently, eating yogurt helps to relieve sore muscles. The soreness that you are experiencing is cause by lactic acid, and yogurt does something to aid in the removal of it.

Not necessarily, but possibly. It depends on what exercising you are doing. Stretching thoroughly before and after you exercise is your best plan to deal with soreness. I would need more detail about your activity and goals to be able to say anything more.
