I pray for the people who have hurt me but it does no good. How do you put the past behind.

Forgiveness is an act of he will. It does not mean you will FORGET how the person wronged you. What it DOES mean, is when you remember, it will not be with hatred and bitterness in you heart towards them. You don't have to forget the past to move ahead with the future, just don't let it DICTATE your future, that's all. And you can be sure it won't, if you resolve your feelings of bitterness towards someone who wronged you. Just keep turning it over to God, every time it comes back at you.

Hi Rori,
I had a most difficult time with this for many years. I do not know why. I have put these feelings on our FATHER. I ask HIM to take those feelings from me. I also realize now that HE is the Judge in the End HE will be the one to Judge each and every one of us. The person that harms me or others that I love are being prayed for by me and the one(s) who are hurting me/them are also being prayed for so that they may have the peace and security that I have. If they find that peace in HIM then they will no longer be harmful to others, they will be a brother/sister in CHRIST! I hope that this helps you as much as it has me. Peace be with you throughout this week.

More often than not, forgiveness is a process and not an event. Sometimes it takes a lot of time and even more effort. And I also believe that in some cases it is impossible apart from the grace of God.

I just realize that whatever it is is their problem.

If you hurt me, then I realize that you obviously have an issue that you need to deal with. I treat them like "special" people. You don't blame a mentally challenged person for being mental.

If you were looking for a religious answer, I'm sorry but I can't give you one.

I pause to acknowledge the pain and move on. Holding a grudge just gives that other person all the power in your relationship.

Follow the words of Christ. He made it simple to understand...but that doesn't make it easy.

God bless you and keep praying!

prayer my friend is not that effective, it is you, the mechanism of recovery, one sign that youve move on or already forgiven some trespassers is on your breathing and heart

note: if some one apologize to you, look into the eyes and feel your breathing, that manner you can tell if thats sincere and if your divine spark or soul is healed!

I agree with you, it's really hard. I really think there has to be some kind of letting go but it's hard to achieve.

Realize that they will have to answer for what they do and it is between God and them not you and them.
