Well if she is single and wearing an engagement ring, I would assume she is wearing it so guys don't bug her. If she is in a committed relationship and wearing one, it just means that she is taken and is planning to get married.

Wedding and engagement ring: to wear together or separately? Often confusion occurs when a bride doesn’t know where to place her engagement ring during the wedding ceremony. The best way to avoid awkwardness is to put it on the ring finger of the right hand before the ceremony. After you took the vows and exchanged wedding rings, you put the engagement ring back on the ring finger of the left hand with the wedding ring. This is at least what wedding etiquette indicates.

Because there a some of us who want to just go out and have a good time without being hit on. Plain and simple. Unfortunately, it generally takes wearing a fake engagement ring to get men to leave us alone.

Girls love rings and those stuff so guys get it (especially diamonds) to propose so then there are less chances of refusing. So then other guys won't DARE get near a girl with an engagement ring. It works just like a wedding ring!

It's a tradition going back to the days when women were mens' property. Today, it is a status symbol and a sign that the woman is not available.

To show that she is taken, about to be married, and in a commited relationship. The ring is sentimental and truly special.

It means she needs time to her self and this way she appears as if she is with someone, instead of having to explain all the time why is she alone..
